The Government of the Northwest Territories operates a cash-and-carry sale of government surplus goods at the GNWT Central Warehouse in Yellowknife on Byrne Road.
The regularly sheduled hours for the cash-and-carry sale is from 1 pm to 3 pm on the first Friday of each month from February to December.
The public is invited to purchase surplus goods on a first-come, first-serve basis during these posted hours. Please be aware that cash and company cheques are the only forms of payment accepted – personal cheques are not valid. Goods that are purchased must be collected and transported by the buyer, and any and all transportation costs will be incurred by the buyer.
Outside of the scheduled cash-and-carry sale hours, goods declared surplus to the needs of the GNWT may be donated to priority interest groups for nominal or no consideration. The donation shall be offer in the following order:
- Priority Interest #1 – NWT Public Corporations
- Priority Interest #2 – Community Governments
- Priority Interest #3 – Band Councils, Metis Locals and Non Profit Organizations
Priority interest groups are asked to provide a letter addressed to the Regional Superintendent of Public Works & Services outlining what surplus goods they are interesting in taking. Surplus goods will be issued to the organization of note, and transportation of the issued goods will be the responsibility of the organization.
