Services to the GNWT form a major part of the mandate of Public Works and Services. The department is proud that its efforts help other departments deliver their vital services to the people of the NWT.
- The Records Management section develops standards, policies and guidelines; trains and advises departments; provides storage for inactive records, records retrieval and disposal services; and implements government-wide records management tools.
- Project management, maintenance planning and maintenance delivery services are provided through regional offices.
- The Asset Management division provides technical evaluations, troubleshooting, facility planning, design reviews, cost estimating, property acquisition and disposal.
- The department administers the government’s general office accommodation.
- PWS coordinates granular materials projects on behalf of clients.
- The supports provided by Technology Service Centre
include computer networks, telephone systems, and e-mail.
- The department provides some procurement support services, such as advising about purchasing problems, training GNWT staff in contracting, and setting up Standing Offer Agreements, and doing consolidated purchasing of items to obtain volume pricing.
- Regional offices take care of the disposal of goods and buildings, warehousing services, and mail services.
These are just the highlights of the many internal services
PWS supplies. |
