Energy Strategy Engagement

The Strategy

In 2017, the GNWT will release a new 10-year energy strategy focused on the affordability, reliability and environmental impacts of energy in the NWT.

The strategy will promote energy efficiency as well as renewable and alternative energy in the electricity, heating and transportation sectors. Principles established from this strategy will help develop actions that support reliable, affordable and sustainable energy over the long term.

This fall, Public Works and Services—in collaboration with Environment and Natural Resources—is undertaking joint public engagement sessions to get feedback on the development of both this new energy strategy as well as a Climate Change Strategic Framework (click here to provide your input on climate change in the NWT).

So what do you think is important for the success of a long-term energy strategy? The GNWT wants to know. Check out the following Energy Discussion Guide—showcasing our current energy situation and future goals—and give us your feedback.
