We are committed to preserving the land and water around our tank farms. Look at some pictures of some clean-ups at Trout Lake:

For the longer term, we have an Environmental Remediation Program. Since 1998, Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessments (ESA's) have been completed in all communities where PPD has facilities. At 10 sites, Phase 3 ESA's have also been done. At 2 sites, Phase 3 Risk Assessments were done to find the best way to remove soil that exceeds remediation criteria. The assessments were finished in 2002.

Since 2002, PPD has completed remediation at these sites:

1. Gamètì - Alternate site (inside fenced area)
2. Paulatuk - Airport facility
3. Rae Lakes - Alternate tank farm site
4. Sachs Harbour - Beach area
5. Trout Lake - Tank farm
6. Tsiigehtchic - Tank farm
7. Whatì - Tank farm

In 2006, these sites are scheduled:

1. Fort Good Hope - Resupply manifold area, phase 3 ESA
2. Paulatuk - Airport, part 2
3. Sachs Harbour - Beach area, part 4
4. Sachs Harbour - Resupply pipeline, vault B
