Construction of a K-8 new School with a gross area of 950 m2 including five classrooms. The new school will accommodate four major uses: education, pre-kindergarten program, daycare, and community gathering. The school will serve the needs of the Francophone community in Hay River and area.
The building foundation uses concrete footings, and the main structure is wood-frame, incorporating engineered wood structural members and a curved open-web truss roof design with large skylights. Special design features include low-maintenance steel and stucco exterior, in-floor heating, open design with a central atrium gathering area. The design allows for future expansion to include more classrooms and a gymnasium.
