What is iRIMS?
iRIMS stands for Integrated Recorded Information Management System. iRIMS is a software package – an electronic records management system that enables the GNWT to manage its information holdings from creation to final disposition. iRIMS is also being used in all of the GNWT Records Centres to manage all storage locations and all boxes.
How much is a licence and how do I get one?
An individual iRIMS license costs about $62. PWS Records Management will help coordinate the purchase of the licences, but each Department is responsible for payment.
What can I use iRIMS for?
iRIMS can be used for a variety of records management functions:
- Managing active files within the department
- Automating the transfer to storage process
- Providing retention & disposition reports
- Requesting files or boxes from all GNWT Record Centres
Do I have to be using ARCS or ORCS?
Yes. ARCS and ORCS are pre-loaded into iRIMS before departments begin using iRIMS. If your current classification is not ARCS or ORCS, you can use iRIMS to convert your existing system.
Can iRIMS handle electronic records such as e-mail?
Yes. IRIMS has an electronic records module called the Filing Bin. This Filing Bin is used to capture electronic records such as e-mail, Microsoft products, Corel products, etc. The Filing Bin is used to manage “final” documents only, meaning documents that are complete.
Who is responsible for iRIMS?
The PWS Records Management Unit is responsible for the administration of iRIMS.
How do I find out how to use iRIMS?
iRIMS training is provided by PWS Records Management as needed. Another source of information is iRIMS Tips. |
